BE YOUR OWN KIND OF MAN

Problems:
The industry has become so overcomplicated and highly exclusive that it is almost impossible to appreciate uniqueness without having to succumb to the status quo. When I read fashion blogs or magazines, I feel as though I am being dictated to and if I deviate from the trend I deviate from the industry.
As a student from a disadvantaged background ,I am fully aware of the financial barrier that excludes a majority of men from participating in the fashion industry. It has simply become too expensive. Especially in the men’s fast-fashion industry, staple and quality pieces are unattainable especially to those with little to no dispensable income: the younger generation.
The relationship between fashion and masculinity has been very rigid. The industry defines what it is to be a man and if you leave this square of acceptance you are outcasted. Most cater only to the “man” accepted by society, but there are those who do not conform to this definition. I never identified to mens magazines like GQ or men's fashion blogs. I do not fit the average "fashionable muscular man. I am not alone. So where do we go?
Solutions:
We will take it back to the basics. I want to break down the barriers and rules that are in place by the fashion industry. Here we do not wish to dictate or feed your trends. Instead we aspire to inspire. We will share our ideas, thoughts and outfits in the hopes that we can inspire you.
We will keep cost in mind. This is pretty straightforward and something that has been engrained in me but will take priority in this website. Cost-effective, reasonable and accessible is what we will strive towards with each and every one of our post. Fashion does not have to be expensive.
We will challenge masculinity. We will challenge society and its definition of a man. We will view clothes not by their gender assigned by the industry. We will welcome all pieces and ideas regardless of the gender of the intended consumer. Instead we will focus on what works for you. Together we will work on being our own kind of man!
